Meet The Farmers
Sara Puharich

Sara Puharich grew up on a beef and horse ranch in western Colorado and currently manages The Farm at Sunrise Ranch and runs the Farm Internship program. She completes her BA in Sustainable Community Development with Prescott College in July 2008. In this program her emphasis has been sustainable agriculture and leadership. Sara has managed Sunrise’s commercial kitchen, and has volunteered as a course instructor for a nonprofit outdoor experiential education organization in South Africa. Sara highly values holistic thinking and acknowledgment of the symbiosis between myriad participants in ecosystems—human, plant, animal, vegetable, mineral, light, water and air.
Michael Puharich
Michael Puharich converted to agriculture later in his life, when he apprenticed with Henry Brockman on his vegetable farm in southern Illinois. A trip to Italy also confirmed Michael’s need to grow and eat food where quality matters. He currently manages The Farm at Sunrise Ranch. Michael values the rhythm of work on the farm. His passion is to ensure that future generations have access to the flavors and nutrition of home-grown foods.
